PUBLIC SPACE THROUGH THE LENS
OF CONTEMPORARY IRANIAN ARTISTS
Curated by Gohar Dashti
9.1.2017 – 10.29.2017
Featuring photography and video installations, this exhibition examines the concept of “Public Space” from the viewpoint of the artist. The collective experience of Iranian citizens that has been subject to political and social transformations. The works in this exhibition are not only documented narratives of urban life, but also an artistic reflection of life experiences in Iran.
Why we need your support!
As you can imagine, it is difficult and expensive to have artwork shipped from Iran to the U.S. Your support will go toward covering the costs of printing and framing the work locally, along with equipment needed to display the videos, and other costs that come with producing an exhibition such as signage and, if we raise enough funds, a catalog to accompany the exhibition. It will also allow us to bring the curator, Gohar, and some of the artists to Washington, DC for the opening and for a series of public programs we have scheduled throughout the September and October.
